The Synaptic Learning Company LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Synapse mobile application (the "App") and the synapseko.com website (the "Website"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App and Website.

Camera

With your permission, the App can access your camera to photograph objects for vocabulary learning. Photos are processed on-device and may be sent to Google's Gemini AI for object identification. Photos are not stored on our servers.

iOS Waitlist

If you join the iOS launch waitlist, we use your email address to send launch updates and waitlist confirmation messages. The waitlist uses a double opt-in flow: after you submit your email, we send a confirmation link that you must open before your place is locked.

For waitlist signups, we store your email address, selected locale, referral code if present, and a consent record that includes the consent version, policy version, timestamp, source, and reCAPTCHA verification result. We use Google reCAPTCHA v3 to protect the form from abuse; reCAPTCHA may process device and browser information under Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Acquisition source. We also store non-identifying information about how you reached the waitlist — the marketing campaign parameters in the link you followed (UTM source, medium, and campaign), the website that referred you (its domain only, never the full address), and which page or on-site activity led you to sign up. These values are truncated and normalized before storage; we use them only to understand which channels bring people to Synapse, and they are deleted together with your waitlist record when you remove yourself.

Unconfirmed waitlist entries expire after approximately 30 days. Confirmed waitlist records are kept until launch or until you remove yourself. The confirmed status view includes a "Remove me from the list" link for self-serve erasure. If you cannot access that link, contact us at [email protected].

Push Notifications

The App may request permission to send push notifications to remind you about study sessions. You can enable or disable notifications at any time through your device settings. We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications. No personal data is shared through notification content.

Google reCAPTCHA

Google Gemini AI

We use Google's Gemini AI to generate definitions, word relationships, and identify objects in photos. Your vocabulary queries and photos taken with Language Lens are processed by Google's AI services.

YouTube

The karaoke feature extracts audio from YouTube videos. We do not share your personal data with YouTube, but video playback is subject to YouTube's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Genius

We retrieve song lyrics from Genius.com. Your personal data is not shared with Genius.

RevenueCat

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy in the App or on the Website. Your continued use of the App or Website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
